Nando’s PERi-PERi Kicks Off Holidays with “Friends, Giving” Platter, Feeding Someone in Need with Every Platter Sold

In November, Nando’s partners with DC Central Kitchen to give back

As the holidays near, Nando's PERi-PERi today launches the “Friends, Giving” platter at all restaurants. Guests who buy the platter will be helping to feed Washington area families in need. For every “Friends, Giving” platter sold, Nando’s will donate to DC Central Kitchen, the award-winning Washington non-profit that will help feed thousands of area residents this holiday season.

The “Friends, Giving” platter feeds 2-3 people, and is perfect for families and friends sharing a meal this holiday season. It includes a whole flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken - basted to each guest’s preferred flavor and spice - plus a side of garlic mashed potatoes and our roasted Brussels sprouts. It sells for $29.99.

“With Thanksgiving around the corner, we wanted to give back to the communities where we live and work,” said John Fisher, CEO of Nando’s PERi-PERi USA. “We have partnered with DC Central Kitchen in the past, and admire how they care for and respect impoverished families and people in our area.”

Nando’s “Friends, Giving” promotion is also good at all Nando’s in the Chicago area, where Nando’s will donate to Inspiration Corporation for every platter sold at a Nando’s in and around Chicago.

Nando’s roasted Brussels, a fan favorite, are back for November only. They’re available with the platter or sold separately, so get ‘em while they last.

DC Central Kitchen’s mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. As the nation’s first and leading community kitchen, DC Central Kitchen develops and operates social ventures targeting the cycle of hunger and poverty in the DMV. It fights hunger by training jobless adults for culinary careers and then hiring dozens of its own graduates to prepare the 3 million meals it provides for homeless shelters, schools, and nonprofits each year.

Inspiration Corporation of Chicago is a catalyst for self-reliance. In an atmosphere of dignity and respect, Inspiration Corporation helps people who are affected by homelessness and poverty to improve their lives and increase self-sufficiency through the provision of social services, employment training and placement, and housing. Inspiration Corporation was founded in 1989 by Lisa Nigro, a police officer who was searching for a personal response to the people she encountered on her beat.

Nando’s PERi-PERi is the South African-Portuguese restaurant known worldwide for its spicy flame-grilled chicken. The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 24 countries on five continents. Nando’s is known worldwide for its succulent PERi-PERi chicken, marinated for 24 hours, flame-grilled to perfection, and basted to the customer’s preferred flavor and spice. It’s equally renowned for its spicy PERi-PERi, the Bird’s Eye chili pepper that indigenous Africans introduced to the Portuguese centuries ago.

Nando’s PERi-PERi made its U.S. debut in 2008 with the opening of its first location in Washington, DC. Nando’s PERi-PERi now operates 42 restaurants in and around Virginia, Maryland, Washington and Chicago.
