Photoworks Gallery Announces "10 Photographs: A Secret About a Secret" Fundraiser

Tickets now on sale for event to be held October 20 from 7-10 PM at Photoworks in Glen Echo, MD

Photoworks Gallery announces an evening of food, fun and photography to be held in Glen Echo Park on October 20, 2018 from 7 PM - 10 PM.

The event will include a casual buffet dinner, musical entertainment, and a silent auction. Sarah Gordon, independent curator and lecturer, will speak on the use of boxed collections by master photographers.

Each guest will receive a boxed collection of work by Photoworks photographers. Featured photographers include Photoworks founding members Rhoda Baer, “Tico” Herrera, and Tom Wolff, as well as Photoworks faculty Joe Cameron, Sora DeVore, Rebecca Drobis, Karen Keating, Mark Power, Gayle Rothschild, and Frank Van Riper. What’s the secret? We also have secured images from award-winning guest photographers including Tanguy de Carbonnieres, Tim Hyde, Eric McCollum, David Myers, Sandy Sugawara, Craig Sterling, Sonia Suter, Barbara Tyroler, Dorte Verner, and Fred Zafran.

Tickets are $100 for one or $150 for two and are on sale now. They can be purchased at glenechophotoworks.org/10-photos. Each ticket will include one boxed photo collection while supplies last.

“10 Photographs” will raise funds to support Photoworks programming, which include camps and classes for kids, teens and adults, internship programs, free and low-cost classes and workshops, and fine art exhibits featuring hundreds of local, national and international photographers each year.

About Photoworks:
Forty years ago, in a derelict building hidden among the abandoned amusement park rides of Glen Echo Park, four young photographers founded Photoworks with little more than a shared passion for the daily work of seeing, shooting, and printing images of lasting beauty and artistic integrity. The day-to-day collaboration, creative dialogue, and informal mentoring that led those artists to successful careers as fine art and commercial photographers established the values of experimentation and collegiality that define Photoworks today. Offering a diverse combination of educational programs, gallery exhibitions, and community initiatives, Photoworks is a vibrant and unique resource for student and professional photographers - an arts community in the very best sense of the word.

Photoworks offers photography classes for all ages. The gallery is open to the public Saturdays from 1 PM to 4 PM, and Sundays from 1 PM to 8 PM.
