Slate Wine Bar + Bistro Celebrates Chef Danny Lledó’s Victory at the San Diego, CA Paella Competition in May with His Next Stop, Valencia, Spain in September
Guests can choose their favorite recipe, as they change every Wednesday evening during the warm- up for the competition in Spain
In the spirit in preparing for the paella competition in Valencia, Spain in September, after just winning the fourth-annual San Diego Paella Wine & Beer Festival on May 12, 2018, Chef Danny Lledó invites his diners to help him determine his best paella combination from among his competition recipes. The most requested paella during this practice run every Wednesday, will be the winner at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro. Every Wednesday beginning July 11 through August 29th, Chef Lledó will be offering limited servings of a featured paella, with preparation required 45 minutes in advance of the dinner the reservation. One must order ahead to participate. The selection and pricing are as follows: $25 per person for the competing Valencian Paella, $22 for the Vegetarian Paella, $25 for the Seafood Paella, $28 for the Lobster Paella and $28 for the Duck, Foie Gras & Vegetable Paella.
Not everyone at the table needs to order paella, but a paella serving must be requested in advance with reservation and the restaurant’s full menu is also available. Wine pairings are also suggested with the featured paella and Slate’s Wine Wednesdays special of half-priced wine bottles (not inclusive of Private Collection Wines) makes this even more appealing to come savor the paella of the day. Wines can be ordered by the glass or bottle according the pricing on the wine list. Wine pairing pricing by the glass ranges in price from $12 to $15 on the listings below:

WHY: A master of making paella, Chef Danny Lledó’s awards include Best Paella at the Paella Wine & Beer Festival in Los Angeles, California in October 2016, and People's Choice Paella at the Paella Wine & Beer Festival in Orange County, California in August 2017 and Best Valencian Paella at the Paella Wine & Beer in San Diego in May 2018.
