Ambar DC & Ambar Clarendon Debut $19.99 Express Lunch Menu

Ambar, the nation’s capital’s first Balkan restaurant, owned by Serbian born Ivan Iricanin of Street Guys Hospitality, is pleased to announce the debut of its new Express Lunch Menu, available at both the DC and Clarendon locations, Monday through Friday, from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. This new lunch option is priced at $19.99 per person (tax and gratuity not included) making it a great choice for those looking for a satisfying, quick midday meal. Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat selection of Soups & Salads, Vegetables, Flatbreads, Sliders, Baked Pies, Meat & Poultry, Slow-Cooked Food, Sausages and Seafood. The Express Lunch Menu must be ordered by the entire table as items are designed for sharing.

One can begin with one of Ambar’s Soups & Salads including the Tomato Soup with homemade basil pesto; Organic Slaw with carrot, watermelon radish and cabbage; Zucchini Soup with potato and sundried tomato; Red Quinoa Salad with grilled corn, dried cranberries, heirloom tomato, lettuce and balsamic and the Baby Beet Salad with goat cheese, roasted walnuts and grape & balsamic reduction. Items from the Vegetable section of the menu include Grilled Asparagus with velouté, crispy prosciutto, squash and quail egg; Cauliflower with spicy sesame sauce; Baked Beans with onions and smoked paprika; Mushroom Crepes with red pepper emulsion, velouté and gouda, and the Brussels Sprouts with bacon and lemon & garlic yogurt. Two Baked Pies are also available and include Meat with crispy phyllo, beef & pork and garlic yogurt, and Cheese with crispy phyllo and cucumber yogurt.


Those looking for Flatbreads & Sliders will want to consider the White Flatbread with kajmak, cured aged cow’s cheese, fresh herbs truffle paste and olive oil; Grilled Chicken Slider, ajvar marinated with cucumber yogurt; Fried Chicken with walnut, green apple, red onion and wasabi mayo and the Pulled Pork with cabbage slaw and horseradish sauce. Ambar also serves Meat & Poultry dishes such as Tartare Steak with pork “cracklings”, pickled vegetables, capers and sundried tomato butter; Chicken Skewers with kajmak sauce and picked onion, and the Balkan Kebab, house-ground beef & veal with scallions and paprika. Slow-Cooked Foods include the Greek Moussaka with house-ground lamb, eggplant, dill and béchamel; Braised Steak & Frites with aged kajmak, house fries and red peppercorn; Beef Short Rib Goulash with trofie pasta, root vegetables and parsley and bacon butter, and the Stuffed Pepper with root vegetables, beef & pork and raisins.

Items from the Sausage & Seafood sections of the menu include Beef & Pork with baked beans, onions and roasted pepper; Lamb & Veal with red & yellow bell peppers, onion garlic, eggplant, chili flakes and tomato; Tuna Tartare with squid ink butter, pear salsa and almonds; Shrimp Skewers with prosciutto, asparagus, pepper and spicy sesame aioli, and the Smoked Pork with homemade mustard sauce. Menu items at Ambar DC and Ambar Clarendon differ slightly.

Ambar’s new lunch menu is complemented by a rotating list of non-alcoholic cocktails, and freshly squeezed lemonades. Highlights from both locations include the Mixed Berry Lemonade; Rosemary Lemonade; Berry Hibiscus Soda; Ginger Green Tea Soda; Green Cheer with cucumber, spinach, lemon, apples and orange; Beets & Treats with beets, apple, carrots, orange and lemon and the Grapefruit Lemonade with tequila, lime juice, agave and grapefruit. La Colombe coffee and cold-pressed juices are available exclusively at Ambar Clarendon while a selection of draft beer, house wine and cocktails are also available at both locations with prices ranging from $5 to $14 each.

Ambar Clarendon is located at 2901 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Virginia, 22201, just two blocks from the Clarendon Metro station, accessible on the Orange and Silver Lines. The restaurant is open for dinner Sunday through Thursday, from 4 PM to 10:30 PM and Friday and Saturday, from 4 PM to 11:30 PM.  Unlimited Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 11 AM. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. Happy Hour is served Monday through Friday, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Ambar is located at 523 8th Street, SE, just steps from the Eastern Market Metro station, accessible on the Orange, Silver and Blue Lines. Valet parking is available Wednesday through Friday, from 4 PM to close and Saturday from 4:30 PM to close, and is priced at $10 per car. The restaurant takes limited reservations and walk-ins are welcome. Ambar serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. Dinner is served Sunday, from 4:30 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Thursday, from 4 PM to 10 PM, and Friday, from 4 PM to 11 PM and Saturday, from 4:30 PM to 11 PM. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. Happy hour specials are offered Monday through Friday, from 4 PM to 7 PM.
