Opening Today: CAVA in Navy Yard

From our friends at CAVA...

CAVA Opens in Navy Yard on October 27

CAVA will offer free meals to the community from 12-2 PM

The growing local restaurant and culinary brand CAVA today opens its sixth chef casual restaurant in Washington, DC at 52 M Street, SE in Navy Yard, the newest addition to the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. The location will be the 26th in the DMV-area, with additional outposts set to open in Union Station and on H Street, NE later this year.

Navy Yard is CAVA’s 39th restaurant and the latest in a series of nationwide openings in 2017 that will take the restaurant to over 40. Just a few short blocks from Nationals Park, the new space is conveniently located for residents, businesses and baseball fans alike.

“As a homegrown D.C. brand, we are committed to our roots and continuing to fuel our neighbor’s lives through our bold, innovative food culture and menu,” said CEO Brett Schulman. “We’re excited to make CAVA a convenient, healthy option for even more DC residents, and we’re thrilled to join the dynamic Navy Yard community.”

On the day of opening, CAVA invites the local neighborhood to join for community lunch - a tradition that started with the very first restaurant opening back in 2011 and is rooted in the heritage of its three founders. “Sharing a meal was part of our culture and how we welcomed our new neighbors growing up,” said Co-Founder Ted Xenohristos. The community can join CAVA for free lunch from 12 and 2pm and pay it forward with a donation to City Blossoms, CAVA’s local non-profit partner, whose mission is to create kid-driven green spaces that teach the younger generation about gardening, sustainability, and healthy eating.

CAVA’s fall menu, which launched on September 18, boasts seasonal additions including Greek Minestrone with Harissa, sweet and crunchy Carrots & Currants, and a refreshing line-up of house-made juices and teas.

The new location is 1,987 square feet and will seat 32 people at 52 M Street SE, Washington, DC, 20003. Hours: Daily, 11 AM - 10 PM.

About CAVA:
CAVA was born out of a desire to fuel full lives through a bold and innovative food culture, rooted in the heritage of the culinary brand’s founders Ted Xenohristos, Ike Grigoropoulos, and Executive Chef Dimitri Moshovitis. The three first-generation Greek Americans are childhood friends who wanted to bring the authentic Mediterranean flavors and experiences of their Greek upbringing to a wider audience in a modern, accessible format. With 38 chef-casual restaurants and a line of handcrafted dips and spreads sold in over 200 Whole Foods Market locations, CAVA started as a full service restaurant in Rockville, MD in 2006.

CAVA’s restaurants can be found in both city as well as suburban areas of their home market of Washington, DC’s metro area (including Maryland and Virginia), Richmond, in New York City’s metro area and Manhattan, as well as seven locations in the Los Angeles area. CAVA will have more than 40 locations nationwide by the end of 2017. For a full list of open and forthcoming locations, please visit: cava.com/locations.
