What to Look for in Your American Travels

by Jenna Brown (Contributing Editor)

We take vacations to break away from our usual mundane lives, and to get some much-needed rest. Sometimes we take a vacation so that we can experience something new and exciting. What we don’t take a vacation for, is to feel like we need another vacation just to recuperate. That happens often, doesn’t it? We looked at three popular vacation destinations; San Diego, Washington, DC, and Orlando to curate some things to look for while vacationing, so that you can have the best time and truly feel refreshed for your usual life when you return.

San Diego:
San Diego is a popular destination, because it combines a love of culture and adventure with some amazing year-round weather that is pleasant! That makes it easier to wear yourself down while vacationing. Let’s first consider a resort in San Diego and what they need to offer:

• Spacious lodging so it doesn’t feel like the family is crammed into a single bed
• Full kitchen so you can cook meals without spending lots of money
• Televisions for late night movie watching or cartoons for kids
• Full sized bathrooms for easier bathing experience
• Fitness center to keep up with our workout routines
• Pool for when we don’t want to drive to the beach
• Outdoor game areas - volleyball, golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, etc
• Indoor game areas - billiards, pinball machines, darts
• Onsite spa for getting a much-needed and well-deserved massage
• Onsite restaurants for when we don’t want to cook or drive
• Concierge service that will assist us in finding the right entertainment
Doesn’t this just sound lovely?

Washington, DC:
A visit to the nation's capital will offer so much in terms of past and living history that it’s hard to not want to go. Accommodations in DC will vary a bit from San Diego, due to space available in the city:

• Spacious lodging so it doesn’t feel like the family is crammed into a single bed
• Televisions for late night movie watching or cartoons for kids
• Fitness center to keep up with our workout routines
• Onsite restaurants for when we don’t want to drive for a meal
• Concierge service that will assist us in finding the right entertainment

One pro-tip for traveling to DC, look for travel packages! They can save you so much money by lumping in services with your stay. The ladies have been discussing the Girl’s Night Out package extensively!

Orlando, FL:
A visit to Orlando will be a bit similar in accommodations to San Diego because it’s a bit more sprawling and spacious in the resort areas. When staying in Orlando, we usually look for:

• Spacious lodging so it doesn’t feel like the family is crammed into a single bed
• Full kitchen so you can cook meals without spending lots of money
• Televisions for late night movie watching or cartoons for kids
• Full sized bathrooms for easier bathing experience
• Fitness center to keep up with our workout routines
• Pool for when we don’t want to drive to the beach
• Onsite golf course
• Onsite spa for getting a much-needed and well-deserved massage
• Onsite restaurants for when we don’t want to cook or drive
• Concierge service that will assist us in finding the right entertainment
• Shuttles to airport and various destinations in the area

Of course, when you visit Orlando, one of the top destinations is Walt Disney World. If you wish to mix it up a bit, we also suggest a visit to Universal Studios for a day of movie magic. Orlando is much more than just theme parks. There are lots of beaches, museums, and shows to catch so be sure to ask your concierge or do a little online investigation to find the best events.

Accommodations often make or break the trip experience. Be sure to read reviews and look for the best place so that it feels like a home away from home. You will relax more if you do!
