Local Players to Compete for Coveted Spot in Citi Open Tennis Tournament Qualifying Rounds

Wild Card Challenge to give DC, MD, VA and WV players opportunity to compete in tournament; Monumental Sports Network to exclusively broadcast competition on June 20

Local players will go head to head for the chance to win a coveted spot in the Citi Open Tennis Tournament qualifying rounds through the Citi Open Wild Card Challenge.

The Wild Card Challenge will be held June 17-20 - six weeks from the Citi Open - at the tournament grounds on Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. The winner of the men and women singles competition will each receive a Wild Card into the singles qualifying competition of the 2017 Citi Open Tennis Tournament. Winners of the qualifying rounds will then compete in the Main Draw of the tournament, in which tennis superstars Juan Martin del Potro, Gael Monfils, Dominic Thiem, John Isner and Monica Puig, have already committed.


For the first time, Monumental Sports Network will exclusively broadcast the Challenge’s semifinal and final rounds on June 20. Fans will be able to watch the Challenge live and on-demand all summer long on the digital sports platform.

WHO: Players aged 14+ who maintain residence in DC, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia
