Bastille Celebrates Vegetarian Awareness Week

Dishes made or modified

May 15-21 is Vegetarian Awareness Week. Although Bastille, located at 606 N. Fayette Street in Old Town Alexandria, serves everything from land, sea and air, there are many options for Vegan, Pescatarian and Lacto-Ovo vegetarians on the menu. If it’s not on the menu, Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux are always happy to accommodate diners who choose to eat non-meat meals.

Examples include Red Quinoa Tabbouleh that is currently served with Shrimp and Calamari (for the pescatarians) can be done as a double portion of this high protein based grain as a main dish for Vegans. Bastille also offers beet salad (minus the Burrata as it currently is served on the menu); some vegetarian broth-based soups; housemade falafel; hummus; spring pea risotto (ask for no cheese) and a vegetable tajine.

Also for pescatarians, there is Norwegian Salmon, with spring pea risotto and carrot ginger coulis; Caesar salad; shrimp salad; shrimp beignets; Icelandic cod; and curried Mussels.

Bastille is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 AM until 10 PM and Sunday 11:30 AM until 9 PM serving brunch, lunch, dinner and all day dining with café and bar menu offered. The restaurant is located in The Asher at 606 N. Fayette Street in Alexandria, Virginia, just two blocks from the Braddock Metro.
