Sloppy Mama's Now Open at Union Market

From our friends at Union Market...

The BBQ Favorite Is Open Every Tuesday Through Sunday in the Vibrant Culinary and Retail District

Barbecue fans rejoice: Sloppy Mama’s is now open at Union Market. Founded by Joe and Mandy Neuman, Sloppy Mama’s specializes in all things BBQ, including pork and brisket sandwiches, smoked meat platters and traditional sides such as cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad and hot sweet pickles.

Neuman, the history teacher-turned-pitmaster, launched the Sloppy Mama’s concept in August 2014 as a catering company and food truck, and the new Union Market locale will feature favorites like St. Louis-style ribs, pulled pork and corn bread among others. Meats such as turkey, house made sausages, duck, lamb and goat will be available on a rotating basis.

BBQ fans can also pick up a bottle of Neuman’s signature sauces: Kansas City (traditional tomato-based), Georgia Gold (mustard-based) and Happy Sprinkles Rub while visiting the market.

Sloppy Mama’s is open every Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 8 PM and will offer take-out, as well as catering for larger events in and around the DC metro area.

The Union Market District, located a short walk from the NoMa/Gallaudet metro, is a 45-acre district that is planned for over 8 MSF of development. EDENS has a clear vision to redevelop the district into one of DC’s most vibrant, diverse and thriving neighborhoods - a living laboratory for a sustainable urban community and place for creative minds and businesses to connect, thrive and make DC their own. Since opening in September 2012, The Market at Union Market, the acclaimed food market with over 40 local artisans, now averages 15,000 visitors per weekend and has hosted over 400 events.
