Delta Adds KIND Bars, 3 Gluten-Free Options to Main Cabin Snacks

Delta is continuing its investment in on-board snacking with its latest refresh, offering three new complimentary choices for customers. Beginning in June, Delta will offer Squirrel Brand almonds, Pretzel Perfection Olive Oil & Sea Salt Pretzels and KIND Healthy Grains Oats & Honey with Toasted Coconut bars, in addition to the airline’s signature Biscoff cookies.

Catering to health-conscious customers and those with dietary restrictions, the three new snacks are all gluten free. Additionally, the KIND bar, Squirrel Brand almonds and Biscoff cookies are also non-GMO.

“Knowing our customers are mindful about how they fuel their bodies when they travel, we’re pleased to offer a new selection of snacks, inclusive of healthy options,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s Senior Vice President - In-Flight Service. “With 180 million customers a year, we want to keep the variety going onboard Delta.”

In addition to soliciting feedback from customers and employees to choose the new snacks, Delta selected both well-known and up-and-coming brands using social media and tapping into what brands customers are talking about online.

Delta’s complimentary snacks will be available on all flights over 250 miles. Customers on flights within North America - ranging from 251 to 599 miles - can choose between the signature Biscoff cookies or Pretzel Perfection pretzels. Additionally, customers on flights over 600 miles will have the option to choose between all four snack options.

The refresh is part of the airline’s commitment to offer rotating food and beverage offerings to increase choice and variety for even the most seasoned travelers.

Delta has offered complimentary snacks on board since the 1940s. In December of 2016 the airline introduced upgraded Main Cabin snack offerings, retiring its Delta-branded peanuts and pretzels and replacing them with Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels, Squirrel Brand Honey Roasted peanuts and NatureBox Apple Cinnamon Yogurt Bars and maintaining the airline’s beloved signature Biscoff cookies.

To celebrate the new snacks, Delta will be hosting customer activations in select markets in June to give customers the opportunity to sample the offerings.

This latest enhancement is part of the airline’s multi-billion dollar investment in the customer experience that includes a cabin modernization program featuring new seats, seatback entertainment systems with free entertainment, high-capacity overhead bins, access to Wi-Fi on nearly all flights, free Main Cabin meals on select flights, chef-curated meals in Delta One, a seasonal wine program, an Alessi-designed collection of serviceware in Delta One and First Class, and more.

Delta has also made significant investments in the customer experience on the ground, in addition to plans to add nearly 250 new aircraft to its fleet in coming years. These include new Delta Sky Club locations in Denver, Atlanta, and Seattle, and Club renovations in Nashville, Dallas, Newark, and Minneapolis-St. Paul, airport enhancement programs in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and Salt Lake City, and the testing and implementation of an enhanced boarding process in Atlanta.
