4/10 - 4/13: City Tap Welcomes Beer Lovers to Nation’s Capital for Craft Brewers Conference

Popular gastropub partners with top breweries over four days of programming

City Tap Penn Quarter, the gastropub that serves as a popular watering hole for lovers of craft beer, welcomes attendees of the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America (CBC) to the nation’s capital with four exciting days of programming and specials. From Monday, April 10, through Thursday, April 13, City Tap Penn Quarter will partner with some of the country’s premier brewing companies to present pop-ups, exclusive releases, and late night happy hours celebrating all things beer.

Bell’s Eccentric Café Pop-Up - Monday, April 10 at 11:30 AM:
City Tap Penn Quarter is bringing the atmosphere of Bell’s Brewery’s iconic Eccentric Café in Kalamazoo, Michigan over to the East Coast, installing an all-day pop-up to replicate the quirky hangout complete with eclectic art, signature café menu items, and a live DJ. Bell’s will also take over 30 of City Tap’s draft lines with some of their most beloved brews.


Flying Dog Family Tree Reunion - Tuesday, April 11 at 5 PM
From 5 PM to 9 PM, City Tap Penn Quarter will host the only public tapping of Family Tree, a new collaborative Belgian pale ale from Flying Dog debuting at CBC. Flying Dog created Family Tree in partnership with fellow local breweries DC Brau, Manor Hill Brewing, Vanish Farmwoods Brewery, and Waredaca Brewing, each of which was founded by former Flying Dog team members. Guests will be able to enjoy 15 drafts dedicated to these local breweries as well as Family Tree, described as a refreshing, hop-forward, and slightly acidic pale ale clocking in at 6% ABV.

Late Night Happy Hour, West Coast Style - Tuesday, April 11 at 9 PM
City Tap Penn Quarter shows West Coast breweries some love with a spotlight on nine drafts from western state breweries including Anderson Valley Brewing, Uinta Brewing, and 21st Amendment Brewery. Hard-to-find specialty drafts will be available from 9 PM to close.

Victory 21st Birthday - Wednesday, April 12 at 5 PM
Celebrate the 21st birthday of Victory Brewing Company (est. 1996) at City Tap Penn Quarter, complete with birthday cake, balloons, and more from 5 PM to 9 PM. Victory will tap a surprise firkin for guests celebrating, and 12 different Victory drafts will be available on tap.

Ballast Point Tap Takeover - Thursday, April 13 at 5 PM
In playful homage to the fish that appears on Ballast Point’s brews, City Tap Penn Quarter invites guests to enjoy one of 20 Ballast Point drafts while fishing for prizes in an inflatable pool. Prizes guests can ‘catch’ include Ballast Point swag and City Tap gift cards. Any guest who purchases a Ballast Point beer from Tuesday, April 11 through Thursday, April 13 will also receive a raffle ticket to enter to win a Ballast Point long board. The drawing will be held Thursday evening; participants must be present to win.
