Catholic Men's Lacrosse Wins Second-Straight Landmark Championship

Back-to-Back! Keith Scores in OT to Clinch Landmark Championship

In a Landmark Conference, instant-classic, The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team won a thrilling overtime game at Elizabethtown in the conference championship for its second-straight title and another trip to the NCAA Tournament.

After a back-and-forth regulation, Tournament MVP Tim Keith scored with 3.1 seconds left on the overtime clock to clinch the 13-12 victory and make Catholic back-to-back league champs.


Keith finished the game with four goals and three ground balls. He scored the Cardinals' first and last goals of the game as well as starting Catholic's rally at the end of the third quarter.

Elizabethtown scored the first the goals of the game, but Catholic came back to tie it up at four when Victor Licata found Jack Murphy for the score with 1:28 to go in the first period as part of a 6-1 Cardinal run.

The Blue Jays had a run of its own however, scoring the next six to tie it up at six-all at the half before taking a 10-6 lead with just over 20 minutes to play.

Catholic fought back, matching E-town's mark of six-straight goals starting with two-straight by Keith that gave the Cards momentum heading into the fourth, only down two.

Elizabethtown would not go down easily though as they were able to score with in the final five minutes, but Catholic would not cede the winning score.

It took nearly all of the first extra time period, but after a called timeout by Catholic with 38 seconds left, the Cardinals came out an executed for the game-winning score.

Licata joined Keith with four-point days as he scored three times and added an assist. Murphy also matched Licata with three scores of his own.

Senior goalie Harrison Holak was yet a gain strong between the pipes as totaled 15 saves in the game, facing 44 Blue Jay shots.
