Oyamel's Tequila & Mezcal Festival Returns March 21st

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana Celebrates Ninth Annual Tequila & Mezcal Festival

Chef José Andrés & Team Celebrate with Dish & Drink Specials, Exclusive Tastings and Tequila & Mezcal Pairing Dinners

Chef José Andrés and his culinary team at Oyamel Cocina Mexicana (401 7th Street NW, Washington, DC) will celebrate the return of Oyamel’s Tequila & Mezcal Festival on March 21- April 3. Led by Executive Chef Colin King and Bar Manager/certified Master Mezcalier Jasmine Breedlove, Oyamel will pay homage to the heritage of Mexico's unique spirits with a lively kick-off event, authentic dish and drink specials, complimentary tastings and ticketed dinners.

Kick-off Event: The festival will kick off with an all-inclusive party on Monday, March 21 from 6-9:00 PM, featuring live Latin music, festive fare, special cocktails and tequila and mezcal tastings from renowned brands including Wahaka Mezcal, Milagro Tequila, Maestro Dobel Tequila, T1 & Tears of Llorona Tequila, El Silencio Mezcal, and Suerte Tequila. Tickets are $49 and can be purchased online at nvite.co/teqmez.


Tequila & Mezcal Tastings: Throughout the festival, dedicated tequila & mezcal tastings will take place from 4-6:00 PM in Oyamel’s bar.
• March 22 - T1 & Tears of Llorona Tequila
• March 23 - Wahaka Mezcal
• March 28 - Vago Mezcal
• March 29 - 123 Organic Tequila

Tequila & Mezcal Tasting Dinners: Five course tequila & mezcal tasting dinners will take place throughout the festival featuring paired menus from Head Chef Colin King. Brand producers will be on hand to provide expert information. Dinners are $79 per person (exclusive of tax and gratuity) and can be booked by emailing events@oyamel.com.

• March 29 - 123 Organic Tequila

Drink & Dish Specials: Throughout the festival, Oyamel will feature special dishes from Head Chef Colin King, made with fresh masa ground in-house, along with tequila and mezcal cocktails from ThinkFoodGroup Cocktail Innovator Miguel Lancha and Level 5-certified Master Mezcalier Jasmine Breedlove. Cocktails range in price from $11 to $14.
