Stumptown Coffee Roasters to Host Seminar at Dolcezza, October 3rd

From our friends at Dolcezza's Gelato Factory + Coffee Lab...

Stumptown Coffee Roasters to Host a Coffee Roasting Seminar at Dolcezza’s Gelato Factory + Coffee Lab on Saturday, October 3rd

On Saturday, October 3rd, Jaime Hodgkin and Daniel Metcalf of Stumptown Coffee Roasters will host a coffee roasting seminar at Dolcezza’s Gelato Factory + Coffee Lab from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Tickets are priced at $20 per person in advance (September 17-18 only) and $25 thereafter: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/roast-brew-with-stumptown-coffee-tickets-18621168416. Coffee aficionados will have the opportunity to sample Stumptown’s Hair Bender Blend at three essential parts of the roasting process, which will show how the flavor profiles dramatically shift with each passing minute. This in-depth look at the roast will give a better appreciation for talent of roasting and see how Stumptown continues to be the leader in the coffee industry. Next, guests will have a chance to learn about three different brewing methods, AeroPress, Chemex and Bee House, while sampling three of Stumptown’s seasonal, single origin coffees: Ethiopia Mordecofe, Guatemala Finca El Injerto Bourbon and Indonesia Beis Penantan. Attendees will see how various brew guides impact the flavor profile of various coffees and see how preferences vary across the board. As an added bonus, those who attend the class will receive a complimentary bag of single-origin coffee beans and a pint of limited edition espresso gelato, made with perfectly pulled Stumptown’s Hair Bender shots.

Those who are unable to make the morning class will be able to stop by Dolcezza’s GelatoFactory + Coffee Lab between 12:30 PM to 3 PM to attend one of their free public coffee brewing demos.  Guests will also be able to order Dolcezza’s limited edition espresso gelato at five of their DC area locations until this special flavor is totally consumed: Dolcezza 14th Street, Dolcezza Dupont, Dolcezza Georgetown, Dolcezza Mosaic District and Dolcezza Union Market.

WHEN: Saturday, October 3rd. The private coffee roasting seminar will take place from 10 AM to 12 Noon followed by a public coffee brewing demonstration, which will be held from 12:30 PM to 3 PM.  Seating for the private roasting seminar is limited, and reservations are required.

WHY: In October 2013, Dolcezza began its partnership with Stumptown Coffee Roasters to oversee their coffee education and training program, in addition to maintaining the quality of their coffee machines and all future coffee bar design and layouts. Coffee aficionados can expect to see a rotating list of seasonal, single origin coffee showcasing Stumptown Coffee’s best roasts. SCR holds similar philosophies with its coffee as Dolcezza does with its gelato, and this approach is what resonates most deeply within the partnership.

Dolcezza's philosophy is simple: Be curious. Be spontaneous. Play with you food. Support local farmers and make exquisite gelato. Dolcezza makes gelato with a conscience, using only the best available ingredients grown by local farmer friends. By creating an artisanal product, Dolcezza has learned to measure time with the seasons and to work closely with local farmers.

Co-Owners Robb Duncan and Violeta Edelman have seven Dolcezza locations, which can be found: Dolcezza CityCenterDC 904 Palmer Alley, NW, Washington, DC, 20001, (202) 733-2879; Dolcezza 14th Street 1418 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20005, (202) 817-3900; Dolcezza Union Market 550 Penn Street, NE, Washington, DC, 20002, (202) 333-4646; Dolcezza Mosaic District 2905 District Avenue, Suite 155 in Fairfax, VA, 22031, (703) 992-8701; Dolcezza Georgetown, 1560 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, 20007, (202) 333-4646; Dolcezza Dupont, located just one block from the Dupont Circle metro at 1704 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 20009, (202) 299-9116 and Dolcezza Bethesda, 7111 Bethesda Lane in Bethesda, MD, (301) 215-9226.
