Georgetown Men's Basketball Announces 2015-16 Schedule

Highlighted by a home game against long-time rival Syracuse, a tournament appearance at Madison Square Garden, non-league games against Connecticut and Maryland and 17 games at Verizon Center, the Georgetown University men’s basketball schedule for the 2015-16 season was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hoyas will play Wisconsin in one of two semifinals of the 21st Annual 2K Classic benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, a field that also includes Duke and Wisconsin. Georgetown will have 22 games air on FOX, FS1 or FS2, two national appearances on CBS, two games on the CBS Sports Network and three games on ESPN. Prior to the start of BIG EAST Conference play, the Hoyas will play 12 games against non-league opponents. The 2015-16 regular season starts on Saturday, November 14, with GU hosting Radford of the Big South Conference at Verizon Center. The game is one of two regional round games for the 2K Classic.

Three days later, on Tuesday, November 17 (9 PM, ESPN2), the Blue & Gray will visit local rival Maryland, a game that is part of the Gavitt Cup, an event touting matchups between members of the BIG EAST Conference and the Big Ten Conference.

The Hoyas will play Wisconsin in one of two semifinals of the 2K Classic on Friday, November 20 (5 PM, ESPN2) at Madison Square Garden. Georgetown will play either Duke or VCU on Sunday, November 22 (ESPN).

Georgetown returns home for seven-straight games from late November to early December, starting with a date against Bryant University on Saturday, November 28. The Hoyas host the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday, December 1 and then will welcome former longtime BIG EAST Conference rival Syracuse to Verizon Center on Saturday, December 5 (1 PM, FOX). The game is the first in a four-year home-and-home series between the teams. 

Ivy League foe Brown visits Verizon Center on Monday, December 7 and the Hoyas will host UNC-Wilmington on Saturday, December 12 as part of the BB&T Classic. Georgetown’s final two non-league home games include a game against Monmouth on Tuesday, December 15 and one versus UNC Asheville on Saturday, December 19.

Georgetown will play at Conference USA foe Charlotte on Tuesday, December 22 at Time-Warner Cable Arena, the home of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, the final non-league game before the start of BIG EAST Conference play.

The Hoyas will open BIG EAST Conference play on the road, visiting DePaul on Wednesday, December 30 (9 PM, FS1). The BIG EAST Conference home opener is slated for Saturday, January 2, when Marquette visits Verizon Center (5:30 PM, FS1). GU then visits Creighton on Tuesday, January 5 (9 PM, FS1) before returning home to host DePaul on Saturday, January 9 (noon, FS1). 

Following a visit to St. John’s on Wednesday, January 13 (6:30 PM, FS1), the Blue & Gray host Villanova on Saturday, January 16. That game tips off at 1 PM at Verizon Center and will air on CBS.

The Hoyas will play at Xavier on Tuesday, January 19 (8:30 PM, FS1) before playing their final non-league game on Saturday, January 23 (noon, CBS) at former conference rival UConn. The first month of conference play closes with home games against Creighton on Tuesday, January 26 (6:30 PM, FS1) and Providence on Saturday, January 30 (8 PM, FS1).

The second month of conference play starts with road games at Butler on Tuesday, Feb. 2 (7 PM, FS1) and at Seton Hall on Saturday, February 6 (9 PM, CBS Sports Network). GU returns home on Monday, February 8 to host longtime conference rival St. John’s (7 PM, FS1).

After a game at Providence on Saturday, February 13 (noon, FOX), the Hoyas play three-straight games at home, starting with Seton Hall on Wednesday, February 17 (9 PM, FS1). The homestand continues with games versus Xavier on Saturday, February 20 (noon, FOX) and the final home game of the regular season on Saturday, February 27 against Butler (noon, CBS).

The regular season concludes with games at Marquette on Tuesday, March 1 (9 PM, FS1) and at Villanova on Saturday, March 5 (noon, FOX).
