Visit Alexandria (http://www.visitalexandriava.com/) will host Alexandria Restaurant Week, August 21-30, inviting participating restaurants to offer three-course dinners for $35 per person. This bi-annual event invites diners to experience Alexandria’s top restaurants at an affordable price point. This year, The Majestic Café, located at 911 King Street, Alexandria, VA is offering up delicious fare with a Southern twist prepared by Corporate Executive Chef Graham Duncan and Executive Chef Lisa Marie Frantz.
Guests begin their meal with a choice of three fresh, seasonal salads including the Summer Salad with baby spinach, grilled watermelon, raspberry vinaigrette and spiced pecans; Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Salad with baby mixed green and lemon vinaigrette, or the Old Town Caesar with chopped romaine, creamy Caesar dressing, fried grits croutons and Surryano ham from Surry, Virginia. Next, restaurant-goers can select from mouthwatering entrées such as the Pan Fried Virginia Trout, pecan crusted and served with roasted vanilla sweet potatoes; Twice Roasted Chicken from Fields of Athenry Farms stuffed with forest mushrooms, Carolina gold rice and sea island red peas, or the Yankee Pot Roast, boneless beef short rib braised in Washington’s Tavern Porter and served with fingerling potatoes, baby carrots and horseradish cream. Lastly, for dessert, guests can enjoy tempting choices such as Key Lime Pie, Cherry-Chocolate Cheesecake and Coconut Cake.
For the perfect pairing, The Majestic Cafe offers seasonal craft cocktails with a history behind them. Cocktails not to be missed include De Janeiro with Pitu Cachaca, house-made cinnamon syrup and lime juice; Cathy’s Coffee with espresso infused rum, Captain Morgan rum and Fernet Branca liqueur, as well as the Mint Okinawa with fresh mint-infused gin, Domaine de Canton liqueur and lime juice. Cocktails are priced at $12 each. Rounding out the beverage offerings are local draft beers and eclectic wine varietals spanning the globe.
The Majestic Cafe, located at 911 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia has been an Old Town favorite since 1932. Painstakingly refurbished and reopened by a group of local investors in 2001, the restaurant serves classic dishes with a Southern twist, with a big emphasis on what’s local and in season. Dishes are sourced within the great Commonwealth of Virginia whenever possible. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 5 PM; dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 5-10 PM and Friday & Saturday 5-11 PM, and brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 5 PM.
