Banana & Peanut Butter Cup S’mores Highlight Washington DC Celebration of National S’mores Day

From our friends at The Capital Candy Jar...

The Capital Candy Jar is partnering with several local DC businesses to celebrate National S’mores Day on Monday, August 10th. Over the last year and a half, The Capital Candy Jar's giant gourmet s'mores have become a secret obsession for DC foodies. The booth at local festivals and farmer's markets attracts long lines of people anxious to try one of the unique flavors of the giant gourmet s'mores. Customers can select from six different flavors of fluffy hand made marshmallows including salted caramel, vanilla bean, banana, mint, strawberry or coconut. They also can choose from flavors of chocolate including milk, dark, white or a peanut butter cup.

“The most unusual combination we’ve ever had requested was for a mint marshmallow with a peanut butter cup.” says The Capital Candy Jar owner David Burton.

The process starts with a signature flavored marshmallow that measures approximately 3"x3"x1”. The Capital Candy Jar team uses a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallow and melt the chocolate.

The Capital Candy Jar is teaming up with local businesses Logan Ace Hardware and Glen’s Garden Market to help DC residents celebrate National S'mores Day. They will be making their giant s’mores at Glen’s Garden Market at 2001 S Street NW from 11 AM to 3 PM and at Logan Ace Hardware at 1734 14th Street, NW from 4-8 PM. The cost is $5 per s’more.

For anyone who wants a premium s’more experience The Capital Candy Jar has partnered with fellow Union Kitchen members Undone Chocolate and Ruby Scoops to create an artisanal s’mores kit that includes 1 Giant Salted Caramel Marshmallow, 1 Giant Vanilla Bean Marshmallow, 1 2 oz 70% dark organic chocolate bar from Undone Chocolate and 4 square cinnamon sugar graham crackers from Ruby Scoops. S’mores kits will be available while supplies last at Logan Ace Hardware, Glen’s Garden Market and on their website at www.TheCapitalCandyJar.com.

For those who want to start celebrating early, The Capital Candy Jar will be making s’mores on Friday August 7th from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Capital Harvest on the Plaza farmer’s market located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. A Facebook event page which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/1478466502466915/ already has a few hundred RSVPs from s’mores fans all over DC who plan on attending.
