U.S. Micro-Hotel Pioneer, The Pod Hotels Expands to DC, Fall 2016

From our friends at The Pod Hotels...

Pod DC to Offer Affordable, Functional Style, and Social Hangouts in Trendy Penn Quarter Neighborhood

Washington DC will welcome its first Pod Hotel, Pod DC, opening fall 2016 in the Penn Quarter neighborhood. Following the model of BD Hotels’ successful Pod Hotels in NYC - Pod 51 and Pod 39 - Pod DC will feature well-appointed guest rooms and vibrant communal spaces where travelers can socialize and connect. The hotel is being developed by Modus Hotels, a Washington D.C. developer, owner and operator of lifestyle hotels.

Pod DC’s 245 guest rooms come in double, queen, and bunk bed configurations with features that include built-in storage, high-tech amenities to keep guests plugged in and engaged, and tiled bathrooms with barn doors, rain shower heads and eco-friendly bath products.

Guests can enjoy cocktails, creative cuisine, and social interaction in the hotel’s 12,000 square feet of public space, which will include a full service bar, restaurant, rooftop lounge, and community work space.

“The expansion of Pod Hotels to DC is a symbol of the broad appeal of our micro-hotel concept,” says Richard Born of BD Hotels. “We expect Pod DC to attract a similar type of traveler to those who visit our New York properties: individuals from all over the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America, ranging in age from 18-85, who are looking for an affordable, stylish hotel that allows them to easily explore a destination and meet others with similar passions in the property’s communal spaces. We look forward to collaborating with Modus Hotels to bring the hotel to life.”

The Pod DC is located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington DC, just a short walk to the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian museums and the International Spy Museum, as well as the Verizon Center, top-rated theaters, restaurants, and public transportation.

About The Pod Hotels:
Hoteliers Richard Born and Ira Drukier developed BD Hotels’ successful micro-hotel concept to accommodate the needs of today’s savvy, “young-minded” traveler. BD was the first to introduce the micro-hotel model to New York City in 2007 with the launch of the original Pod Hotel, Pod 51, in Midtown East. Offering guests efficient, clean accommodations ranging from 60-120 square feet, and vibrant communal spaces and high-tech amenities, the hotel’s values of affordability, community, and innovation immediately became a success. BD launched a second outpost, Pod 39, in June 2012, expanding on the formula of the original, introducing guests to a rooftop lounge, a vibrant communal “Play Room, Salvation Taco restaurant, and wall-mounted iPads and projection screens. The Pod 51 rates start at $89/night, and Pod 39 rates start at $119/night. For more info, visit
