Landmark to Reopen West End Cinema, July 17th

Just the other day, I passed by the (now) defunct West End Cinema, and thought to myself, "Boy, I really miss that place." Josh Levin's shrine to independent film closed its doors for good back on March 29th; but word has it... it's coming back (under new ownership.) Sound the trumpets: Movies are coming back to West End, where they belong!

If you'd like to pen a thank you note, forward it to the fine folks at Landmark Theatres. Already home to two of the best movie houses in the DMV (Bethesda Row and E Street Cinema) Landmark is planning a third fourth theater at 8th & V Streets, NW, next to the 9:30 Club later this year. That one's set to have six screens; but West End isn't quite as big. When the new West End opens, it will temporarily operate with just two (instead of its original three) screens... while renovations are made throughout the space. Expect Landmark's popular food and drink service as well. No word yet on what films will christen the new operation; but we'll be sure to add titles/times to our Showtimes page, once available.
