Hamilton Hotel D.C. Unveils New Guest Rooms and Suites, Lobby and Meeting Space Inspired by Alexander Hamilton

Recently completing a multi-million dollar refurbishment and redesign, The Hamilton Hotel D.C has transformed its guest rooms, suites, lobby, and meeting facilities through significant design and décor enhancements. The tone and flavor of the design is evocative of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s most influential founding fathers who blended brash creativity with artful and thought provoking ideas.

“The new design elements at our hotel celebrate and pay homage to Alexander Hamilton’s style and unique perspectives,” said Sholeh Kia, general manager of The Hamilton Hotel D.C. “This refurbishment is the beginning of an exciting series of changes guests will discover at the hotel as we evolve the guest experience to capture the utmost in sophistication and discovery.”

Staying true to Hamilton’s precise blend of innovation and tradition demonstrated throughout his work, the restoration kept that same balance of modern taste and historical respect. In keeping with the hotel’s historic roots, the iconic original lobby ceiling highlighting 14-karat gold features still exists and original artwork and maps of Washington D.C. monuments and points of interest are showcased throughout the property.

Guest Rooms, Suites and Corridors:
Nationally-renowned hospitality design firm, Design Atelier, transformed guest rooms, suites and lobby design. Neoclassical white paneling juxtaposed against timeless rich toned wool carpet creates a sense of elegance and luxury, and a collection of Washington D.C. artwork is showcased throughout the public areas.

The comfortable guest rooms and suites blend classic furnishings with contemporary touches. The furniture is finished in rich deep espresso and the color palette is sophisticated taupe with highlights of conservative reds. Touches of history are referenced in the mirrored D.C. antique maps above the nightstands, marble nightstand lamps, the scroll design of the pillow shams that hint at Hamilton’s signature, and the artwork featuring a silhouette of Alexander Hamilton filled in with his quotes.
The hotel’s fine accommodations are equipped with multiple data ports, high-speed internet access, plush seven-layer bedding, luxury bath amenities, guaranteed wake-up calls at guest’s request and gourmet fare room service from the award-winning signature restaurant 14K.

Meeting and Event Space:
Prolific hospitality design firm, Intra-Spec, redesigned the meeting areas maintaining a connection to the building’s historic architecture and the surrounding local landmarks. A nod was given to the classic yet crisp flavor of the lobby and guest rooms by integrating timeless furnishings and finishes.

As guests pass under the stunning dome of the lobby entry and descend the Grand Stair where an elegant new chandelier drapes from above and leads guests to the conference and meeting space, a larger than life photographic mural of Alexander Hamilton greets visitors. Creator of the mural, local D.C. photographer Randy Santos, also showcases beautiful black and white images in other areas throughout the meeting space. Brightening silvery wall coverings, damask window patterns, laser-cut draperies, and custom molding details flank the dramatic Hamilton mural. Radiant chrome lighting fixtures add contemporary styling and dark piping details on pendant shades tie in with guest room window treatments. New case goods in warm wood tones add function and beauty while architectural photography from around the city creates a feeling of place.

The pre-function space features elegant seating, updated light fixtures that speak to several of the millwork profiles within the lobby lounge, and a focal mirror that provides a mixture of both old and new world charm. The Hamilton gathering room features a sense of grandeur with bold carpeting design and wall inset accents that mirror the same pattern of the Grand Stair windows, and creates a connection to the map etching in the guest room mirrors.

One of the few downtown D.C. hotels close to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Hamilton Hotel D.C. provides the ideal setting for small and large gatherings and offers personalized event planning services.
